The next Roundtable we are going to be discussing Fly Casting and Specialty Cast. It is almost impossible for a fly fisher to catch a fish without casting first. Casting is so important but not practiced much. I have always said, “A day at the casting ponds is almost as fun as a day of fishing.” Practicing at the local ponds will not only improve your casting, but you will have a better understanding of line management, and mending. Once your fundamental casting skills are developed, understanding and executing complex casts becomes much easier. Some of the casts we hope to discuss are the overhead cast, roll cast, the double haul, the double haul roll cast, over and underpowered curve cast, the parachute cast, the pile cast, the tuck cast, the wiggle cast, and the steeple cast. Please join the conversation.
Keep in mind, the discussions are limited to the first 20 registrants, so sign up early. One last thing, the roundtable meeting officially goes for one hour, although often registrants stick around to converse more, sometimes as late as 9:30 p.m. If you have any questions, contact Todd Pond at toddpond@ymail.com or Mark Likos at mlikos@comcast.net. Hope to see you there!
