Submission Requirements
- Send text and photos as separate files. Do not include them within an email. Word documents preferred.
- Images must be submitted in JPG or PNG format. (Images submitted in HEIC format require conversion, which may delaying publishing of an article.)
- Include captions and/or names! Please rename photos with wording that indicates the content, person or people, venue, date, etc.; or at least indicate this within the associated document or email to which they are attached. (A good option is to write your content in a Word document and place copies of the images in that document with captions, then ALSO send the images as separate attachments.) If I don't have this information, the photos will run without a headline or caption or any context, and simply as a gallery of miscellaneous and unrelated images. Many members enjoy photos, but want to know where the photo was taken, who's in the photo, the time of year the photo was taken, and, sometimes, what fly was used.
- Please ensure that any events that are to be promoted have been set up in the club's online calendar before sending me an article.
- If you have a contribution that is long, contains a number of photos, or might require the inclusion of a number of hyperlinks, please send it as early as possible.
General Guidelines
- Windknots is to be sent to the membership the Tuesday one week/seven calendar days prior to each meeting date. This allows plenty of notice to members about the coming meeting. (This means any submission must generally be received at least 15 days before the club meeting of that month.)
- At the discretion of the Windknots editor and team, based on their judgement as to producing the newsletter by the publishing deadline, content that is not time sensitive may be reserved for publishing in a subsequent edition of Windknots.
- Please send content as early as possible to allow time for questions from the editor.
- All images and copy may be edited for clarity and style.
- If you use hyperlinks in a document, also place the link in parenthesis after the hyperlink.
