The North Umpqua: We target sections of the North Umpqua River, near the towns of Glide and Roseburg. Winter steelhead are an icon of Oregon’s rivers. These fish are often larger and more powerful than their summer-run relatives. The days are shorter, darker, colder and wetter, but the opportunity to connect with one of these fish is worth the time spent in the cold & damp.

For the Spey Fisher: The North Umpqua has a fly fishing only section which is ideal for Spey fishing (and wading), The Winter water is typically higher than summer/fall water, so you will likely wade closer to shore. There are areas with a challenging rock bottom similar to the Deschutes. You will need a heavy 7-8 wt. Spey rod capable of throwing heavy tips and large flies.

For the Drift Boater: You’ll be in the Umpqua Valley. This is typical dead drift indicator fishing – but for bigger Steelhead in a river we’ve not fished as a group before.

Lodging & Food: We will be staying in an Airbnb house with a chef to cook meals – more detail to come.

Price: Based on number of people

For 8 people: $1500/person – includes lodging, food, boat, guide, and flies. Arrangement for loaner rods may be made prior to arrival. Not included: Oregon fishing license, tackle, lines/tips, wading equipment, winter clothing and rain gear, gratuity, liquor, travel expenses.
