Registration is not Required
This outing is available for six DVFF club members to attend. Sugar Creek Ranch is located an hour west of Weed, in the small town of Callahan. This is a property managed by The Fly Shop in Redding. The property's unique 114-acre landscape, with its piles of river rock dug up from the adjacent Scott River during the gold-mining days. Gold miners broke through the water table to create eight ponds that are mostly hidden from view and which have become small jewels in a rocky desert when newly exposed coldwater springs bubbled to create an ideal habitat for large rainbow trout. The most effective method for catching these 20-inch-plus fish last year was the Balance Leech, mainly in black. Since we are a little later than last year’s outing we should see more Callibeatis and be able to pick up fish on a dry fly also.

The total cost for three nights lodging at their beautiful cabin and two days fishing is $442 per person. We will plan to cook all our meals at the Lodge. Since The Fly Shop would like to have a deposit relatively soon please contact either our outing’s chairman or Bill King to lock in a spot. For more information on Sugarcreek go to The Fly Shop website.
