The DVFF & COVID-19
Updated and effective: July 22, 2024
The Diablo Valley Fly Fishing (DVFF) club has established firm recommendations to keep club members safe during outings and events. Because of our demographics it is important to remember that “People ages 65+ and the immunocompromised are more vulnerable to serious health problems from the virus, including death.” (From Contra Costa Heath)
The rules were developed by the DVFF Safety Committee, which consists of a registered nurse and Safety Chair, the Outings Chair, and members. The committee relies on state and local regulations and guidelines provided by public health information experts. Adjustments are made as these guidelines change. Extra masks, spray disinfectant and sanitizer are available from the outing leaders. The club Outings and
Event Rules are as follows:
Events, Outings and Meetings - COVID-19 Rules
New:
-
The Safety Committee is recommending that members test for COVID prior to an event where the members are within close proximity, such as lodging together. It is recommended that you stay home with a positive COVID test.
Existing:
- As recommended by the CDC and the Contra Costa County, DVFF recommends members to be up-to-date on vaccination and updated bivalent mRNA vaccine status prior to an outing, club meeting or other club event.
- Masks are not required for the general public; however, the State of California recommends:
- Wear a mask around others if you have respiratory symptoms such as cough, runny nose and sore throat.
- Consider wearing a mask when you are in indoor areas of public transportation and transportation hubs.
- Choose a well-fitting and filtration mask (respirators such as N95, KN95 and KN94 are best.)
- Additional vaccines give critically important added protection against severe illness, hospitalization and death from COVID-19.
- Any positive COVID test result - Stay Home until you have a negative test result and are fever free for at least 24 hours prior to resuming club activities.
- Sick with Cold/Flu Symptoms – Stay Home. This protects others.
- Handle Your Gear Only. Wash / Sanitize Hands Frequently.
Please visit the CDC, California State and county COVID guidelines. At this time CDC recommends everyone aged 5 years and older to get 1 dose of an updated COVID-19 vaccine to protect against serious illness. Protection from previous vaccination or infection weakens over time, so it's important to get the updated COVID-19 vaccine now to stay protected. People aged 12 years and older who are unvaccinated should get either: 1 updated Pfizer-BioNTech or updated Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, OR 2 doses of updated Novavax COVID-19 vaccine.
