PURPOSE: For many anglers, their first exposure to the sport is with a guide who does much of the work. They select the flies, tie them on, find fish, and sometimes even do the casting. Or perhaps it’s something their parents/grandparents showed them, but then life got in the way and now want to pick it back up. But when they find themselves back on the water, it’s difficult.
The DVFF created FFF many years ago to give these anglers the skills to enjoy this sport that we all love so much.
OBJECTIVE: To equip the beginner or intermediate angler with the essential information and skills to put more fish in their net. This includes knowledge of equipment, casting, basic entomology, fly selection, knots & rigging, and reading water all aimed to make the novice angler more successful.
BENEFITS TO THE NOVICE: The beginner should leave this seminar with a wealth of "how to" information and having accomplished basic casting techniques and knot tying skills from which to further build his or her fly fishing skills and knowledge.
WHAT TO BRING: Enthusiasm and questions, rod, reel, and flies. For those of you that do not have equipment, wait until after the class to make a purchase because we’ll cover gear basics. We have loaner rods available for casting.
