Home-water guides for both the American and Yuba River ... Based upon historical data (weather, water temperature, and fish catches), lunar (waxing crescent moon) and the trusted Ouija board ... May 29th is 2026’s peak shad date.
Put in below Nimbus dam in Sacramento Friday May 30th at approximately 3:00pm.
½-day trip (approx. 5-hrs) with guides: Steve Acosta/Happy Nyguen (drift boats will avoid the shore fisherman as well as familiarize anglers as the American shore access)
Includes water, rods/flies, and lunch.
Primarily via boat with occasional optional walk & wade opportunities.
