Carp & White Bass at Central Coast Lakes
White bass fishing will be guided on 4/1. This will entail a short drive to nearby Lake Nacimiento. We will take a one-hour boat ride across the lake to the inlet river and be dropped off to fish the river by shore. Limit is 4 anglers, though please join the waitlist as we might be able to accommodate a second group on 4/2. Priority is given to those registering for a carp clinic. $200 for guide fee, including tip and boat costs. Register for each day separately. Depending on registration volume, we might offer a second white bass trip on 4/2.
Note: The boat we intend to use is being provided by a member participant. He is not a professional captain and is not offering a professional service. Rather, he is acting in the capacity of a friend taking other friends for a recreational ride on his boat. Passengers assume the risk of riding and should bring their own personal floatation device / life jacket. The associated “boat costs” are not a fee from the boat owner but rather to chip in for gas used (both on-water and for towing the boat to and from our activity), as you would do for a friend.
Recommended rods are 6 or 7 WT for carp and 5 or 6 WT for white bass. Floating lines for both species but having a sink tip available for the white bass can be helpful in higher water situations. Catching carp requires a stealthy approach with quiet and accurate casting. The white bass are much more forgiving! A selection of flies will be provided to registered participants.
Once set, the group will coordinate community meals (e.g., group potluck dinners on 3/31, 4/1 and 4/2) and camp provisions.
