This is a coached outing for recent Fly Fishing Fundamentals students ONLY. If you have taken FFF within the last 18 months and have not gone on an outing, please register ASAP.
Current limit is 10 students. If we have enough coaches, we may open it to additional participants.
If you have taken the class and have already gone on an outing, please do not register because we want to give priority to students who have not yet had the opportunity to attend an outing. This outing pairs you with a coach and offers the opportunity to put your newly acquired skills to the test on the Upper Sacramento River around Dunsmuir.
We have a reservation at the River House in Dunsmuir. It can sleep up to 10 people and it will be our HQ, where we will meet, have group meals, tell stories, and even fish, because the river runs right behind the property.

- Drinks/ hors d'oeuvres
- Group Dinner (if there is interest)
Saturday, June 13: Dunsmuir
- Visit to Ted Fay Fly Shop – A great local shop where you can get gear, flies or other equipment if needed.
- City Park Clinic
- Rigging
- River Bug Sampling
- Casting Demo
- Coached Fishing
- Drinks & Dinner at the River House
- Group dinner
- Recap of the day and hopefully share pictures of landed trout
Sunday, June 14, Dunsmuir & Fowler’s Camp Option
- Coached fishing until around 12:00pm, when you’ll be on your own.
- We may take the option to go to the Upper McCloud River for the opportunity to catch a Native Redband above the Upper Falls if you are interested in the California Heritage Trout Challenge.
