Overview: Manzanita Lake is a lake located in Lassen Volcanic National Park. It holds rainbow and brown trout and is rated as a blue-ribbon fly fishery. It is limited to catch and release with a single, barbless hook and artificial lure. Fishing this beautiful lake lets you sharpen your skills in: Dry Fly to raising fish, subsurface stripping with streamers and damselflys, indicator with leeches and midges. The action changes throughout the day.
Recommended a float tube, pontoon boat or kayak. If anyone doesn’t have one contact
us and we will try to get one for you to use. You can also fish from shore.
A 4, 5 or 6 weight fly rods, with a floating line. Other lines that can be useful are an
Intermediate full sink line, midge tip and hover lines. In general, the lake is not over 25ft deep so slow sink lines are best.
Lodging is Self-Reservation Camping at Manzanita Lake Campgrounds in Loop B, or there is a motel in Shingletown. If camping I strongly suggest booking a campsite this month as the campground fills up fast.
Check in with trip leader Ivan Lee in Loop B at Site B29, which will be the group meeting site. See campground Map attached. When Entering the park, each car will pay a Vehicle fee $30, good for 7 days, (the fee is FREE if you have a “Senior Pass” for National Parks) after entering the park, drive to the campsites.
NOTES:
Everyone will be responsible for their own food/meals.
Use the Bear Boxes for storing your food.
