Trout in the Classroom Egg Deliveries
About this event
The DVFF played a key role in founding Trout in the Classroom for Bay Area schools and remains actively involved, supporting the largest number of teachers—currently between 28 and 30. Trout in the Classroom is designed for teachers seeking to integrate more interactive environmental learning into their curriculum. DVFF provides and sets up aquariums in classrooms and delivers trout eggs to participating schools. Over the following month, teachers and students incubate the eggs, watching them develop into alevins and then into trout fry. The program culminates in a field trip, where students release the trout fry into a local, pre-approved body of water.
Some of the supported schools, where delivers will be made, include Bancroft Elementary, Burton Valley Elementary, Canyon School, Charlotte Wood Middle School, College Park High School, Country Club Elementary, Eagle Peak Montessori, Happy Valley Elementary, Hidden Hills Elementary, John Baldwin Elementary, John Muir Elementary, John Swett Elementary, Marsh Elementary, Mary Case Black Elementary, Montevideo Elementary, Morello Park Elementary, Oakley Elementary, Rio Vista Elementary, Sequoia Middle School, SpringHill Elementary, St. Mary’s Elementary, Sycamore Valley Elementary, and Tassajara Hills Elementary.
