About this event
Gus Link of the Scouting America merit badge program presented to DVFF in March about volunteer opportunities at Camp Wente. The presentation can be viewed in the video archive.
Camp Wente is about 2 1/2 hrs north of Walnut Creek, near Willits. Every summer, Scouts head to Camp to learn fly fishing skills around the fly fishing merit badge. DVFF volunteers teach the fundamentals of fly tying and fishing to very eager minds and, when not teaching, have the opportunity to fish the private bass lake. Meals and a sleeping bag-ready tent and bed are included. Fly tying materials and fishing gear are provided - you're there to relax and share your unique knowledge (and set a whopper bass record for DVFF).
Several DVFF members have volunteered with this Program over the years and we're coordinating to send two groups this year, during weeks 5 and 6 (July 13-17 and July 20-24). Four slots are available for each week.
If you'd like to participate but the dates don't work out, reach out to the group leader, there are other weeks available that you can be slotted into. This event pulls together several local fly clubs so you'll still be in good company.
