Description: Mid-October is prime steelhead fishing on the Trinity.
Friday: We’ll drive up early Thursday afternoon and walk/wade a couple of spots near Lewiston and Douglas City on the way in, including the fly fishing only section below the Lewiston Dam. We’ll grab dinner at the Brewery in Weaverville and head down to Del Loma for the night.
Saturday: Two options for each person: (1) walk/wade on the Lower Trinity or (2) guided drift boat trip on Lower Trinity with Travis Michel’s Sweet Trinity Guide Service. (Travis is considered a top guide for the lower Trinity River)
Sunday: In the morning, we can walk/wade the holes at the property in Del Loma. People can opt to fish on the way out such as the confluence of the North Fork which has a big steelhead hole and Steel Bridge Campground near Douglas City.
Lodging: The organizer owns six cabins in a camping resort on the lower Trinity River (Del Loma). The Lower Trinity has hidden gem steelhead waters that do not get a ton of pressure and are known to fish well in mid-October. The lodging will be provided at no charge (other than cleaning fees). Note, cost assumes one participant per cabin. Reach out to Jason if more than one person is staying in a cabin.
Food: Breakfast on our own. Lunch provided Saturday (sandwiches). Dinners out (Brewery Friday night – salads, burgers, chicken burgers) and the Strawhouse Resort in Big Flat Saturday night (salads, sandwiches, wood fired pizzas). Lunch on the road home Sunday.
Costs: The only costs will be cabin cleaning fees, sharing of guide fees for those who join the guide trip on Saturday, and pitching in for meals. $30 will be collected up front to cover cleaning fees. Guide deposits can be discussed with Jason.
