2017 Barbecue (August 15, 2017)

What better way to celebrate the summer than to feast on barbecue? Join us in our regular meeting room at The Gardens at Heather Farms for baby back ribs, boneless chicken breast, baked beans, fresh fruit salad, potato and Caesar salads, rolls, and a dessert selection of cookies and brownies. Beer and wine are included in the price of admission.

We will kick things off with a wine toss and silent auction at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Every dinner admission includes one raffle ticket. Goodies in the raffle and silent auction will include fishing gear and accessories, jewelry, DVFF-logoed items, and a custom built fly rod.

Advanced tickets can be purchased online for $20 each until Aug. 8th. (You must be logged in to access online ticket sales.) Tickets will be $25 at the door. Tickets include dinner, beer/wine and one raffle ticket. You'll be able to increase your chance of winning by purchasing additional tickets for $1 or six for $5.

2017 Trout Season Opener "Fiesta"

Celebrate the start of the 2017 Trout Season at the DVFF Season Opener Fiesta. Dinner will be buffet-style Mexican, along with beer and wine, in Chateau Hall at the Pleasant Hill Senior Center. Guest speaker Justin Collmann, Ph.D. will offer a unique take on fly fishing with his presentation “Fly Fishing with the Shoulds.”

Justin is a clinical psychologist and fly fishing and tying enthusiast who grew up fly fishing the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee with his father. Now he spends his summers fishing small streams in the Sierras and lakes near his Sonoma County home. He applies his psychological perspective to fly fishing issues to help himself and others in feeling more relaxed on the water. (Something that might be needed when that big one breaks off!) Later in the evening there will an update on 2017 outings and reflection on those that took place during 2016.

Social hour from 5:30-6:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m., program at 7:45 p.m. Tickets: $40 in advance online (click here to make reservations) or by check at the March Meeting); $50 day of at door.
